Every Friday I intend to update the blog with a new post, and recommend the users of the internet two songs I happen to rate very highly, but sadly due to musical under-exposure are not often heard. Hopefully, with any luck, some other fellow audiophiles out there will discover some new artists and expand their musical horizons. So, without further ado...
!!! - Heart of Hearts
!!!, usually pronounced by repearting any monosyllabic three times (most commonly referred to as Chk Chk Chk) are an American Dance-Punk band. Don't let the genre put you off however, the song is as catchy as anything you could possibly hear on the radio. Combining dance beats with discordant and edgy guitar rhythms, infectious vocals and a shimmering yet dark production, Heart of Hearts was the lead off single from !!!'s third album Myth Takes, which was released in 2007.
Fear Factory - Transgression
Now I know that many have gripes about Fear Factory after the departure of Dino Cazares, and the breakup of the band. Some say these godfathers of industrial metal lost their edge, and many extreme metal fans, particularly those of the Concrete division lost their faith. However although Transgression, the second effort after the initial breakup, with Christian Olde Wolbers on guitar, didn't recieve the strongest support, partly due to it's mainstream production, there are still some incredible songs on there, particularly this, the title track.
